2026 Green Party Primary Election

The Maryland Green Party will hold a party-administered primary election to determine its candidates for office in the 2026 election (Governor/Lt. Governor, Comptroller, Attorney General, U.S. House and Senate).

The requirements for declaring candidacy for public office are set by state law and overseen by the Maryland State Board of Elections. The requirements are here.‍ ‍(Select “Non Principal Political Party Candidates” for the requirements that apply to Green Party candidates.)

The state deadline for recognized non-principal party candidates to file a Declaration of Intent to seek nomination is 5 PM on July 6, 2026. The Maryland Green Party primary election will begin on July 8, 2026 and run for two weeks, closing on July 22, 2026.

The Maryland Green Party Annual Assembly will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026, in Crofton. All candidates on the Green Party primary ballot are invited to attend the Assembly to meet and speak with Green voters. Green voters are encouraged to attend the Assembly to meet with candidates, or to contact candidates directly through the public information listed on the State Board of Elections’ page.

All Green Party members in a jurisdiction in which a Green candidate is seeking a nomination are eligible to vote. Instructions for requesting a ballot for the 2026 election will be posted on this page shortly (last updated 6/22/2026).
