about the maryland green party

The Maryland Green Party was founded in 2000 as an organization dedicated to promoting “peace, environmental values, social justice, and democracy.” Since then, the party has worked to maintain ballot-qualified status and run candidates for public office devoted to promoting its Ten Key Values and the principles of the Global Greens.

The Maryland Green Party is currently ballot-qualified, having regained its status for the seventh time in August of 2024. After its initial formation in August 2000, the party regained its status in December of 2002, January of 2007, August of 2012, January of 2015, and August of 2020. The party has run candidates for Governor of Maryland in 2006, 2010, 2018, 2022, and intends to nominate a candidate for Governor in 2026. The party has run a candidate for President of the United States in every election since 2000.
The party has run many candidates for federal, state and local office, including U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, Maryland House of Delegates and Senate, City Council, and other local positions.

The Maryland Green Party is an affiliate of the Green Party of the United States.
