Bylaws
Brian suggested that we hold voting after filing deadline (first Monday in July), so we know who’s on the ballot, such as after the first week in July. Certificates of nomination are due Aug. 3.

Debate Legislation

(Andy) HB 101 allows all parties on the ballot to be included in the MPT debate if MPT wants state funding. It does not affect primaries or write-ins. Beautiful Struggle, Common Cause, and League of Women Voters support. To avoid long hearing, written testimony is preferred beyond those committed to speak in person. Crossover date is 2nd week in March. Expect to add a Senate sponsor.

2030 Constitutional Convention Legislation

Del. Kevin Hornberger (Republican; bill number not yet assigned) changes vote on 2030 constitutional convention question to match all other constitutional questions. Without the bill, not voting would count as a No vote.

Redistricting

(Brian) The Governor has submitted a redistricting bill that would give all 8 congressional seats to Democrats, not just the current 7. Please share ideas with Brian and Renaud. Andy has proposed “Fair Representation” for multi-member seats with proportional representation. The House of Delegates is supportive but the Senate is not. Resources:

ICE Killings in Minnesota

Please post comments for inclusion in a statement from the MGP asap, so Brian can get out a statement in a few days. Andy’s campaign issued a statement.
