The Maryland Green Party is considering changes to its Bylaws necessary to facilitate 2026 activities, including candidate nominations.

The current Bylaws are here. The following proposed amendments have been submitted:

Amendment #1: Delete the entirety of Section 5.2.3 (Unfilled Seats).

Amendment #2: In Section 5.2.6 (Elections), replace "three weeks" with "two weeks".


Amendment #3: In Section 5.2.8 (Party Affiliation), replace "voters must affiliate with the Green Party” with "voters must fulfill the membership requirements set in Section 3.1 of these Bylaws".

Amendment #4: Delete Sections 5.2.9, 5.2.10, and 5.2.11 in their entirety.

Amendment #5: Delete the entirety of Section 8.9 (Rotation, Term Limits)

Amendment #6: Delete the entirety of Section 10.5 (1) (Statewide Office)

Amendment #7: In Section 10.6 (Primary Process), replace "three weeks" with "two weeks".

Amendment #8: In Section 10.6 (Primary Process), delete "The Electoral Committee is responsible for preparing specific timetables and procedures for the primary. Those processes must be approved by the MGP-CC no later than January of the year of the Primary."

Amendment #9: In Section 10.7 (Local and Regional Candidates), delete "All local endorsement processes should be published on the state party website and on local party websites (if applicable) at least one year in advance of the filing deadline."

Amendment #10: In Section 11.1 (Affirmative Action), delete "The Outreach Subcommittee shall submit monthly reports detailing and evaluating its outreach and recruitment efforts to implement this policy, as provided in Section 9.3(2)."
