Green Energy Group
Global warming, mercury laden lakes, particulates in the air, radioactive waste, destruction of West Virginia and Kentucky ecosystems are all a result of our need for energy.
Sustainability means using only what can be replaced. Timescales should extend beyond the current fiscal report. Respect for the earth means enhancing it, not degrading it.
How can we create a planet that enriches our lives, our children's lives, and the lives of all living creatures?
Discuss. Act.

Green Items Available
Submitted by twillard on February 2, 2008 - 5:28pm.I am selling CFL light bulbs at wholesale prices for anybody who needs to switch out some old incandescents. I have packs of three bulbs in 60 and 75 watt equivalents for $5 a pack. I also have 25 watt equivalent candelabra bulbs for $5 each.
The bulbs have a soft yellow light and are made in the U.S.--unlike most which are imported from China--saving energy in transportation.
I also have corn based plates, cups and forks. Compostable!
Contact me at dravidic@yahoo.com if you are interested.

Rally for Global Warming Solutions
Submitted by twillard on January 8, 2008 - 7:47pm.Maryland ’s Commission on Climate Change released their draft report a few weeks ago recommending that the state set science-based reduction targets of greenhouse gas emissions: 25% by 2020 and 90% by 2050. These targets would be the strongest in the nation, and a benchmark for other states and the federal government to follow. It’s up to us to make sure that they get passed into law during this year’s Legislative Session!

PowerShift '07
Submitted by MontCtyAdmin on November 7, 2007 - 9:52pm.This past weekend I volunteered at PowerShift '07 at the University of Maryland. This was a conference for college global warming and environmental activists that grew out of Bill McKibben's Step It Up group.
Attendees came from all over the country and Canada. There were 5500 attendees, this was said to be the largest conference on global warming in history. I must say the passion and enthusiasm were inspiring.
Ralph Nader, Nancy Pelosi, Ed Markie, Bill McKibben and many other people spoke.
