I have added captcha capabilities to the website. CAPTCHA is the annoying thing that displays some distorted letters when you login or want to post a comment. It is an attempt to prevent the viagra spammers of the world from adding their nonsense to the website.

I have turned it on almost everywhere. If you think its too much and too annoying, tell me, in detail, where you think it can be eliminated, and I can turn off that specific place.

Once you pass the test, we assume you're a human for the duration of your stay, and you shouldn't be prompted again.

I have managed to get the images working.

You will need to make sure that they are less than 2 megabytes.

This past weekend I volunteered at PowerShift '07 at the University of Maryland. This was a conference for college global warming and environmental activists that grew out of Bill McKibben's Step It Up group.

Attendees came from all over the country and Canada. There were 5500 attendees, this was said to be the largest conference on global warming in history. I must say the passion and enthusiasm were inspiring.

Ralph Nader, Nancy Pelosi, Ed Markie, Bill McKibben and many other people spoke.

First of all, if you have registered, you have a blog, please post interesting information on it!

In general the strategy I have arrived at is to have three groups of users that I'm going to worry about:

GlobalWebAdmins (Green people that would have an interest in the website as a whole)-- the biggest thing these people can do is send out mass mailings to everyone who has registered, see people's private info, ban people, delete things (carefully! and with due consideration) and make GroupLeaders.

If you create a group, you are the owner and will have the ability to create all sorts of good website content, including polls, events, events with volunteer timeslots, minutes, forums, and webpages.

The first thing you need to do is register on the website. Then you need to be added to the groupleaders group by one of the website admins, or you can ask to join the group by clicking the Group checkbox in your profile. Select the box to join the GroupLeaders group. Once you are accepted, you can create a GroupHomePage or we can help you to create one.

This is a new web site intended to be easy for us to update and contribute to. It has numerous features that I am not going to go into now, because first I want to tell you what I'm aiming for.

My first goal is empowerment. I want you all to be able to create the web pages you need to accomplish the tasks at hand, with as few impediments as possible. I want everyone to be an author, and not have go through a webmaster to put some information out there, which I think becomes a bottleneck. This website is the result.
