Rice, Gates to Discuss Arms Sale Plans with Gulf States, Egypt and Israel
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice formally announced today that the United States intends to provide billions of dollars in arms sales and assistance to six Gulf states, Egypt and Israel to boost security against Iran.
Rice made the announcement hours before she and Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates left the United States to travel to the Middle East, where they will meet Arab and Israeli leaders to discuss the arms packages, as well as efforts to stabilize Iraq and possibilities for generating new movement in the Arab-Israeli peace process.
Well, there you have it folks: Shrub plans to promote peace…by rearming everyone to the teeth! Is the Man a hypocrite? Or is he merely delusional? I do know that he is a first class S.O.B.

Oscar the Cat Predicts Patients’ Deaths
by Angry White Liberal
Oscar the cat seems to have an uncanny knack for predicting when nursing home patients are going to die, by curling up next to them during their final hours. His accuracy, observed in 25 cases, has led the staff to call family members once he has chosen someone. It usually means they have less than four hours to live.”He doesn’t make too many mistakes. He seems to understand when patients are about to die,” said Dr. David Dosa in an interview. He describes the phenomenon in a poignant essay in Thursday’s issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.

Mountain Party to Affiliate with Green Party
Ballot Access News reports that West Virginia’s Mountain Party has voted to affiliate with the Green Party. Since it achieved ballot status in November 2000, the Mountain Party has been the only ballot-qualified third party in West Virginia. Affiliating with the Green Pary would give us ballot access in 20 states. Membership still has to be ratified by the National Party but that seems only a formality.

Americans Favor Impeaching Cheney; Split On Bush
An American Research Group poll released July 6 found that 50% of voters favor impeachment proceedings against Vice President Cheney, with only 44% opposed. Democrats favor impeachment by 76% to 24% while independents favor impeachment by 51% to 29%.
President Bush fares only slightly better with 46% of voters favoring impeachment proceedings and 44% opposing. Democrats favor impeachment by 69% to 22%. Independents are in favor by 50% to 30%.
Once again the Democrats in Washington are lagging behind the public.

McKinney Blasts Democrats
Cynthia McKinney received a rousing reception at a Georgia NAACP fundraising dinner in Savannah, blasting the Democratic Party for failures on Iraq, ignoring Hurricane Katrina victims and failing to impeach President Bush.
“From the Democratic Party to the Congressional Black Caucus to those habitual Democratic voters, we’ve lost our home team,” McKinney charged. “Do we even know it?”
McKinney blasted the Democrats for making no efforts at “impeachment of a president guilty of lying to the American people, spying on the American people and bankrumpting our economy,” and even blamed the Congressional Black Caucus for voting “to fund the war machine and its surge.”
There has been wide speculation that McKinney might seek the Green Party nomination for president next year, but she has not made her plans known yet. At the convention, her father, Billy McKinney, commented on her plans; “I have some idea, but it’s not ready to be divulged yet.”
