John Warner delays wind energy projects
by karma432Dozens of new wind farms have been delayed in order to study the effects of wind turbines on military radar installations as a result of an amendment authored by Sen. John Warner, R-Va.,to a national defense bill. The source of the amendment apparently was opposition to a wind farm proposed off Cape Cod that had been opposed by Warner, as well as by Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., and Robert F. Kennedy Jr, an attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council.
American Wind Energy Association leaders complained that previous problems with wind farms causeing “clutter” on radar screens had already been solved by upgrading computer systems.
This bi-partisan road block to desperately needed clean, alternative energy at the behest of a handful of elite who don’t want their view disturbed is yet another demonstration of the bankruptcy of both major parties. A new party is needed. A Green party.

Congratulations on revealing another stealth move by the wily Mr. Warner.
His daughters have a trophy home in Osterville on Cape Cod, and this great patiot cares more about their ocean view being marred than for America’s freedom from foreign oil.

Just to clarify, the radar issue is a legitimate one, but it can be solved at most locations, by moving individual turbines, upgrading radar hardware, or upgrading radar software. Solutions are site-specific, and a blanket “freeze” on new installations is not appropriate.
