Scratch nuclear power off the list of alternatives when oil production peaks.

Fascinating; however don’t break out the champaign just yet because I heard on NPR that a southern power company plans on initiating the (10 year cycle of) paperwork to get NRC approval for a nuclear plant.

The power industry has been notoriously short sighted. A few years ago almost all their planned new power plants were to be powered by “cheap and abundant” natural gas. Then our natural gas production went into decline.
Now they’ve mostly switched planned plants to coal–which is a very unhealthy choice.
The fact that they would want to get back to nuclear even though the production of uranium is dwindling comes as no big surprise.
